Frozen by Disney Movie Review

The other day I went to go see the new movie by Disney for the holidays. The review is for Frozen by Disney.

It was a very captivating movie and really had a great underlying story as well – of course, I missed the first 20-30 minutes of this movie, but I feel like a got the gist of this entertaining movie.

Frozen by Disney is a movie that was more than likely written for children but I think it has a certain appeal to adults as well and very valuable life lessons.

The story is about a prince who becomes the queen but has a secret that she doesn’t want the townspeople to know about – a secret that causes calamity later in the movie. The thought of all the characters was very well thought out in Frozen by Disney, as they portray humor, responsibility, power, and love.

As you can see here on the left, the character named Kristoff voiced by Jonathan Groff has a very bubbly personality and likes to get into situations all in the name of loyalty and love. Sometimes to his supposed detriment! (see above)

Anna and Elsa are sisters that have a torn relationship in which Anna is always being pushed away by her sister Elsa – all due to the secret that Elsa is hiding from everyone. Through all the different scenes, Anna gets involved with a man that sells ice cubes for a living – perfect for these scenes and movie. She then persuades him to help her get up to the top of the mountain where she thinks her sister is hiding out. During her confrontation with her sister (after she finds her in her self-built ice castle) she gets hit by one of her sisters’ icicles and is becoming infected by her sister’s cold heart. Only true love can break that curse. Frozen by Disney is no exception to this life lesson.

We’ve all heard this type of story about only love being able to break the curse, but it’s one that is true even in our lives today. Sometimes we go down a path that we think is the best for others and that you are protecting the very people we love by leaving or shutting down our ability to love or care for others.

Frozen by Disney: Rating

In my opinion, this movie gets 9 stars out of 10 because of the undertones of witchcraft dealt by Elsa, the Queen.

Movie Review: Red 2 with Bruce Willis

Red 2: Is It Worth Seeing?

So you aren’t sure if you would like to go to see the movie “Red 2”. This is the sequel to the original movie “Red”. I’m going to be straight to the point about this movie and tell you what I think. However, I’m not going to say that I’m a movie critic because I seem to always disagree with what the critics say about 80-90 percent of the time.

When my wife and I were thinking about seeing a movie, we had read from my cousin that she had really enjoyed the movie except for all the violence. Quite honestly, I was a bit taken back by this statement and was thrown off guard by this statement – so I investigated.

One of the coolest ever toys that I have available to me is the little black box that connects to your TV and rightfully named: “Apple TV”. I assumed the position of inquiry via Apple TV’s trailers. The search terms I used, well…there wasn’t much searching to do because it was right there in front of my face.

So I watched the trailer with my wife and both of us looked at each other and said – with a pause – “hmm!? Let’s look for the original RED movie and see some of the stories via the trailer”

Both my wife and I were intrigued by the storyline and chuckled a bit at what the acronym RED stood for. “Retired, Extremely Dangerous”. It had a nice touch of older Hollywood stars who have been in action films in the past but found a way to make a comeback. Bruce Willis, in my opinion, did a great job in his lead role as Frank Moses next to John Malkovich playing the co-lead as Marvin Boggs.

Now, I didn’t see the first rendition of Red, but it seems that Marvin Boggs was one of those people who decided to join forces with Frank Moses after all was said and done in the first movie. Comment below if you know more about Red (the original)

The whole pretense of the story was very well-played out and there are some surprises in the movie that make Red 2 worth seeing in my opinion. Also, there is a bit of Bruce Willis humor involved. You know…the type that is very witty in a time of need humor!

At this point, I haven’t seen the original Red movie but wouldn’t mind seeing that one as well.

My rating of Red 2: 7.5 out of 10 stars

Star system

1-5: Don’t see it or run out of the theater before it’s done

6-7: Watch it if you don’t have anything better to do.

7-8: Good film, but usually has one or more elements that could be improved on

8-9.9: Outstanding movie and highly recommended. I don’t give out any 10’s for movies.

Disney’s The Lone Ranger – Is It Worth Seeing This Movie?

The Lone Ranger

So, now that Johnny Depp has moved on from the Pirates of the Caribbean series of movies, we all want to know what his next adventure is going to be like in his executive produced movie, “The Lone Ranger”. I’m more inclined to say that this is the same bag of tricks that Depp uses in the Pirates movies.

If you’ve seen all the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, you’re probably going to be entertained in this movie with all the action that is in the movie. There are some good laughs as well as some tense moments, which give this movie a great “ride” sense.

Getting On The Disney Train

The reason I say it’s a ride is, well, let’s face it. Disney is in the business of making money and wants people to come to new things in their parks. This movie would be a perfect theme ride. I’m betting that the reason “Thunder Mountain Railroad” is under construction and not opening until September/October time frame of 2013 is that they are going to change the theme of Thunder Mountain Railroad to something with the Lone Ranger incorporated.

I know about this thunder mountain railroad remodel because I was recently at Disneyland at the beginning of June. I was rather disappointed that this ride was down and had a new GoPro camera ready to go just for this ride.

Sigh…

So, back to the movie review.

My Opinion Of The Lone Ranger

After seeing this movie, I would recommend it to anyone that asks me about it. But be cautioned that this is more of the same with Johnny Depp. Perhaps this movie should be called “The Lone Ranger of the Caribbean”

Now, the acting in this movie is pretty good with some established actors playing in this adventure – and that has a big impact on whether or not this movie will make money.

The Lone Ranger could very well be turned into a series just like the Pirates of the Caribbean Movies.

The Lone Ranger Grade: B-
